They Wait

Directed by David J. Aberle

Synopsis

When a desperate grandfather turns to ancient indigenous spirits for vengeance, his vague plea unleashes unstoppable forces and he learns too late that words, once spoken, can never be taken back...

Why Your Help Matters

It is known that Indigenous voices are largely absent from mainstream horror. Inspired by the dread of Poltergeist and The Exorcist, Director David J. Aberle is working to create a film that is a supernatural thriller grounded in Indigenous teachings about the sacred power of words and the consequences of broken promises. This film will be shot in high‑contrast black and white with practical effects to give it the textured, visceral feel of classic horror.

Shooting for this film will begin on October 31, 2025, and by being a contributor, you become a part of a project that’s pushing Indigenous horror into the spotlight and creating opportunities for Native artists. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with your network helps tremendously.
